Escape to the Isle of Purbeck

A wonderfully basic campsite called The Railway Campsite nestled at Harman's Cross you will find peace, space, a few cow pats and 3 portaloos. This really is a great campsite, no plush amenities, or queues for the shower (last visit they were solar heated black sacks hung in a small tent, latest visit a gas powered shower alas with no cubicle). So what is it about this place, well there's the steam engines pulling coaches running every 30 mins along the length of the campsite from Corfe Castle to Swanage. But mainly it's the basic peace. You pull into the field, set up your tent and at up some point Annabel will wander over and take a small payment - that's it!

There's loads for off roading in the area, fossil hunting, beaches, bit of dirt boarding and in the summer fetes and fairs especially over August Bank Holiday.
